1930s | Woolrich | All-Wool Mackinaw Jacket – Red/Black Plaid - M
Description:
Item: Exceptionally rare 1930s Woolrich Mackinaw jacket constructed entirely from heavy all-wool plaid, featuring the early wide shawl collar, twin chest pockets, large lower pockets and period metal buttons. A true early outdoor garment, cut for warmth and durability rather than fashion, with the deep red and black plaid synonymous with Woolrich’s pre-war output.
Era: 1930s
Brand: Woolrich
Condition: Very good vintage condition with honest, even wear consistent with age. Wool remains thick and substantial with no structural damage; light surface wear only, exactly as expected on an original 1930s working garment. A remarkably well-preserved example for its age.
Provenance Note:
True 1930s Woolrich Mackinaws in all-wool construction are extraordinarily scarce, with most surviving examples dating later or showing heavy loss from decades of hard use. This is the archetype collectors look for: early label, correct collar shape, uncompromised wool weight and a colourway that defines American outdoorwear of the interwar period. Pieces of this calibre very rarely surface on the open market and are increasingly held in private collections. A genuine archive-level garment and a cornerstone example of early Woolrich history.
