1950s Butwin Coach-Style Varsity Jacket – K State - M

Description:

Item: Rare 1950s Butwin varsity jacket in the less common coach-style cut, finished in navy wool with gold piping and snap-front closure. Features large chenille "K State" patch at chest, striped ribbed cuffs, and full satin lining. This longer, overcoat-style silhouette was often issued to coaches and staff rather than players, making it an unusual survivor. Retains original Butwin "The Jacket for Champions" label and name embroidery inside hem.

Butwin was one of the premier American makers of varsity and athletic outerwear during the mid-20th century. This coach-length variation, with its extended body and staff-issued cut, is far scarcer than the classic cropped varsity jackets. A true piece of 1950s American sportswear history.
