1960s | American Workwear | Buffalo Plaid Wool Jacket - M
Description:
Item: Heavy wool buffalo plaid jacket in classic red and black check, cut in a longline mid-century utilitarian silhouette with zip-front closure. Quilted insulated lining in high-visibility orange, typical of 1960s cold-weather workwear designed for outdoor labour. Dense outerwear-weight wool with a substantial handle, built to retain heat and withstand sustained use.
Era: 1960s
Brand: Unbranded / American workwear
Condition: Well-worn vintage condition with softening to the wool outer, light surface wear, and settling to the quilted lining through use. The jacket remains structurally sound, with wear consistent with genuine working life and adding depth rather than detracting from function.
Provenance Note:
This is a jacket shaped entirely by use. The softened wool, eased structure, and worn-in lining are the result of years spent zipped up against the cold rather than time in storage. Pieces like this were relied upon daily, valued for warmth and durability, and replaced only when the cloth could no longer be kept going. What survives here is the working surface intact — a practical record of labour and repetition pressed into the fabric, and exactly where the appeal lies.
