Vintage short-sleeve athletic T-shirt on an original 1960s blank, later printed with minimalist chest lettering and rear numeral. Classic narrow rib collar and early athletic cut.

Blank produced in the 1960s; print applied later, almost certainly early–mid 1970s.

Unbranded athletic blank (period correct construction and fabric).

Condition:
Extremely worn and paper-thin, with a pronounced area of fabric loss at the back neckline creating natural negative space. This is not damage in the modern sense but the honest end-point of decades of wear. The cotton has softened to gauze-like lightness, with fading and thinning exactly where the body would have stressed the fabric over time. This kind of survival is rare — most shirts in this state were discarded long ago.

Provenance Note:
A true survivor piece. The 1960s blank, combined with later period printing and extreme wear, tells a complete lifecycle story — manufacture, use, reuse, and eventual preservation. The rear fabric loss is evidence of age, not neglect, and elevates the shirt from wearable vintage into archive-grade Americana. A compelling example of why early athletic tees are so seldom found today.
