Item: A 1970s-80s black pleated trousers in a superb soft Italian wool. Double forward pleats, high waist with belt loops and a straight, wide leg with generous turn-ups. The cloth has an exceptional softness and fluid drape that sets it apart, with a clean, deep black that has held well. A beautifully made pair with real quality to the handle.

Provenance Note: Italian wool trouser production of the 1970s and 80s represented the craft at a high point, with mills and manufacturers across the north of the country producing cloth and finished garments of a quality that is genuinely difficult to replicate today. A pair in this weight of cloth, in this condition, with this softness to the handle, is a find.
