Description:

Item: Heavy wool Hudson’s Bay Company coat made from point-stripe blanket cloth, featuring the classic green, red, yellow and indigo stripes across the chest. Button-front construction with cuffed sleeves and practical side pockets.

Era: 1970s. This is a later 20th-century wearable coat rather than an early trade blanket or capote, produced when HBC were issuing finished garments using their iconic blanket wool.

Brand: Hudson’s Bay Company.

Condition: Very good vintage condition. Honest wear to the wool consistent with age, with no major damage. The softness and slight bloom to the wool are exactly what collectors look for in these.

Provenance note: Hudson’s Bay point-stripe garments are among the most recognisable pieces of North American textile history. While earlier examples were trade blankets, later coats like this were made to be worn and enjoyed, carrying the same visual language in a more practical, everyday form that remains highly collectible today.
