provenance note: 1970s polyester bears little resemblance to modern synthetic fabrics. It was produced to be hard-wearing, shape-retentive and long-lasting, with a heavier hand and far greater density. Wrangler used these materials for durability and practicality, not disposability. The structured feel and longevity are exactly why trousers like these survive in such good order decades later — a product of their time, engineered to last rather than be replaced.
