1980s–1990s | Levi’s 505 | Orange Tab | Made in Mexico of USA Components | Black Denim – w34
Description:
Item: Levi’s 505 straight-leg jeans in black denim, featuring the classic orange tab, zip fly construction, copper rivets and leather waist patch. A strong late-80s to early-90s silhouette with a slightly roomier fit through the seat and thigh than a 501, finished in a deep, even black wash.
Era: Late 1980s to early 1990s.
Brand: Levi’s Strauss & Co. – 505. Made in Mexico of USA components.
Condition: Very good vintage condition. The denim shows light, even wear with no holes, no thinning and no structural issues. Fabric remains strong and well-shaped, with the colour still holding depth. Honest signs of use that add character rather than detract.
Provenance Note:
These sit in the transitional period of Levi’s production, when manufacturing began moving outside the USA but still relied on American-made components and traditional construction standards. Orange tab 505s from this era carry the same design language and durability as earlier domestic pairs, while marking an important shift in Levi’s manufacturing history. A proper piece of late-20th-century denim culture, bridging old-school production and modern globalisation.
