Provenance Note: This is an ambitious piece of 1980s occasionwear construction. The sheer organza overlay with its trailing shoulder drapes operates almost as a separate garment over the fitted bodice, and the gathered bubble skirt with drawstring waist adds further volume and complexity. The fabric rose corsage and ribbon ties are finishing details that sit very much in the romantic excess of mid-1980s eveningwear. A lot of dressmaking thought went into this.
