Item: Ultra-rare 1981 Bobby Crim Road Race ringer T-shirt retaining its original Adidas-branded paper race bib (No. 5615). Classic single-stitch construction with contrast ribbed collar and cuffs. Front graphic references the Kiwanis Downtown Crim run, while the reverse carries the Gossett’s Carpets sponsor print. The survival of the original paper bib still attached is exceptionally uncommon and pushes this piece firmly into archive territory.

Condition: Very good vintage condition overall. Light, even wear consistent with age. The paper bib shows natural ageing and handling but remains intact and clearly legible, which is extraordinary for a disposable race element. Fabric has softened beautifully with time and wear.

Provenance Note:
Race shirts were designed to be worn once, sweated through, and discarded, and the paper bibs were almost always removed or destroyed. The fact that this example still carries its original Adidas-branded race number from the 1981 Bobby Crim Road Race makes it a genuine survivor. It represents a rare crossover between blank manufacturing, event sponsorship, and early sports branding. Pieces like this are not just garments but complete historical artefacts, capturing a specific moment in American running culture that almost never survives intact.
