Description:

Item: Heavy wool CPO shirt in a deep navy blue, built in the classic naval overshirt silhouette with a full button front, two large chest pockets and a structured collar. Cut from dense wool with a soft brushed finish, giving excellent warmth while retaining a clean, sharp shape. Simple, utilitarian design that sits perfectly between shirt and jacket, ideal for layering.

Condition: Excellent vintage condition. Wool remains dense and strong with no thinning, and the shape is still crisp. Buttons and stitching are secure throughout. Any light surface wear is consistent with age and adds to the authenticity rather than detracting from it. A particularly clean example for a piece of this era.

Provenance Note:
CPO shirts were originally issued and worn by the US Navy as cold-weather workwear, designed for durability, warmth and practicality. Their clean lines and functional construction later made them a staple of civilian workwear and outdoor clothing. Originals from the 1950s and 60s are increasingly scarce, especially in this condition, and they carry a level of authenticity and material quality that modern reproductions struggle to match.
