Description:

Item: Soft, heavyweight striped jumper in a muted palette of oat, taupe and brown, with a repeating cable-style knit running through the body. Ribbed crew neckline, cuffs and hem, with a slightly relaxed, period-correct fit. Distinctively hairy handle consistent with mohair-rich yarns of the era.

Era: 1970s. The colour palette, knit structure and generous cut all place this firmly in the early to mid-70s, before synthetic blends became dominant in mass-market knitwear.

Brand: Nahar. A lesser-known but well-made label, typically associated with higher-quality yarns and more considered knit construction rather than disposable fashion pieces.

Condition: Very good vintage condition. Knit remains full and even with no thinning or holes. Minor, even wear consistent with age, which adds softness and character without compromising structure.

Provenance note: Proper 1970s mohair knits are becoming increasingly scarce, especially in understated colourways like this. It’s the sort of jumper that wears beautifully with denim or workwear and quietly outclasses most modern equivalents.
