Provenance Note: The combination of polka dot and floral was a well-worn device in mid-twentieth century printed textiles, and this piece uses it with an easy confidence: the navy dots providing a consistent ground texture across which the red roses sit loosely scattered, the yellow-green leaves stopping the print from reading as purely graphic. The crossback strap detail is a neat construction choice, practical and unshowy. A straightforward summer dress with the kind of print that has proved consistently appealing across decades of fashion.
