Provenance Note: Vincel was a British viscose fibre produced by Courtaulds that had a strong presence in 1970s fashion, valued for its soft drape and the clarity with which it took print. The dense black on white floral here is a particularly well-executed example of the kind of intricate all-over print that the decade produced with real confidence, the chrysanthemum and scrollwork forms filling the cloth completely with a quality that sits close to traditional Japanese textile design.
