Description:

Item: 1970s long sleeve mini dress by TGL of Sweden in acetate, deadstock condition. Green ground with an all-over black floral silhouette print, the blooms and leaves rendered as bold, flat forms across the fabric. High round neck with a back zip, smocked elasticated waist drawing the dress in before flaring into the skirt, and long sleeves with gathered ruched cuffs. A well-proportioned mini with a strong graphic contrast.

Provenance Note: Acetate takes printed colour with a particular clarity, and the high-contrast green and black print here benefits from it directly: the black floral silhouettes sitting clean and sharp against the bright ground with a depth that the fabric's smooth surface enhances. The construction details are well thought through: the smocked waist gives the dress its shape without over-structuring it, and the ruched cuffs carry the gathered quality of the waist through to the sleeve endings, giving the piece a consistency of detail. In deadstock condition throughout.
