Provenance Note: TGL was a well-regarded Swedish ready-to-wear label producing confident, fashion-forward pieces through the late 1960s and 1970s — a period when Scandinavian design was setting its own strong agenda. The print here is characteristically bold: high-contrast black on green, the floral forms abstracted and graphic rather than decorative. The smocked waist is neatly executed and gives the dress its shape without over-structuring it, while the gathered cuffs add a softness that balances the strength of the print. As with many quality synthetic acetate garments of this era, the fabric has held its colour and surface exceptionally well — vivid and stable after more than fifty years.
