Description:

Item: 1970s short sleeve shirt dress by TGL of Sweden in 100% cotton, made in Finland, deadstock condition. Olive green ground with a large-scale all-over print in deep red: botanical and marine forms — scrolling foliage, fish and organic shapes — drawn in a continuous, densely layered pattern across the fabric. Pointed shirt collar, full button placket with dark metal buttons, and short sleeves with turn-back cuffs. A straight, well-proportioned cut in a rich, autumnal palette.

Provenance Note: The same botanical and marine design as TGL's lighter colourway of this print, here rendered in deep red on olive to entirely different effect. The dark ground absorbs the light rather than reflecting it, giving the print a depth and warmth that the turquoise version does not have. The fish and foliage forms, drawn with the same fine-line detail, read here as something closer to a woodblock or batik tradition than an illustrated print. The dark metal buttons are well-chosen against the palette. In deadstock condition throughout, made in Finland.
