Description:

Item: A 1970s wool cardigan in cream, cable knit throughout with a fisherman-style diamond and rope pattern running the length of the body. Finished with a wide shawl collar, wooden button-through front, long sleeves and ribbed cuffs and hem.

Era: 1970s

Condition: Very good vintage condition, with light wear consistent with age and use.

Provenance Note: The cable and diamond stitch work here is proper Aran-style craft, dense and technical across the whole body rather than confined to a single panel. The shawl collar gives it a good deal of presence at the neck, and the wooden buttons suit the cream wool well, keeping the whole piece looking natural and unfussy rather than overly formal.
