Description:

Item: A single-breasted blazer in a bold multi-colour check in tones of brown, navy, cream and tan - a generous, eye-catching plaid with real character. Cut with wide notch lapels, two-button fastening and patch hip pockets with a breast welt pocket. Fully lined in camel. The cloth has a good weight and texture to it - a confident, characterful piece that wears its era proudly.

Provenance Note: The bold check sports jacket has been a cornerstone of the British and European country wardrobe since the early twentieth century, drawing on a long tradition of patterned suiting cloths from the Scottish and Yorkshire mills. By the 1980s these were being cut with wide lapels and generous proportions that gave them a swagger the trimmer cuts of later decades never quite matched - worn as often in the city as the country, and impossible to ignore.
