Description:

Item: Original 1980s suede leather culottes in a rich brown tone, cut with a high rise and a wide, skirted leg that gives them that classic culotte shape. Finished with soft pleating from the waistband, side pockets and turned-up hems, giving the silhouette good volume and a strong structured drape. A very wearable piece with the look of a skirt from the front but the practicality and shape of shorts.

Condition: Good vintage condition. The suede still has a strong overall look and soft handle, with honest wear and some darker marking visible to the front consistent with age and use. These signs of wear sit naturally with the material and add character rather than taking away from the overall appeal.

Provenance Note: These are a very strong example of the smarter, more directional end of 1980s womenswear, where suede was used to give everyday silhouettes more depth and presence. The culotte shape is the real draw here, combining the drama of a full skirt with the ease of a trouser-based piece, which makes them far easier to wear than they first appear.
