Description:

Item: A zip-front leather and knit jacket by Greenlight in a two-tone combination of dark brown leather and black knitwear. The body and shoulders are cut in a smooth, worn-in dark brown leather with two welt hip pockets, while the sleeves, collar and cuffs are in ribbed black knit. Clean, minimal and well-proportioned - a pared-back take on the leather and knit hybrid that lets the contrast of materials do the work.

Provenance Note: The leather and knit jacket reached its commercial peak in the 1980s and carried through strongly into the 1990s, with makers progressively stripping back the hardware and decoration in favour of cleaner, more minimal silhouettes. This two-tone approach - dark leather body against black knit sleeves - gave the format a more contemporary edge, sitting as comfortably in a city context as it did as casual outerwear.
